Being a non-commercial radio station whose funding primarily comes from WVU, U92 is not permitted to run advertising in accordance with University and FCC regulations, so on-air advertising is classified as a sponsorship (or underwriting), which is a tax-deductible donation. A sponsorship is an acknowledgment of a monetary donation or donation in kind, and the intent of these messages is to identify, not promote, the donor.

“A portion of U92’s programming is being brought to you by a sponsorship from Mo’s Café, located at 284 Prospect Ave. Mo’s Café offers a variety of specialty burgers, salads, and soft drinks. That’s Mo’s Café, located at 284 Prospect Ave, phone number 555-1234.”

PRICING AND OPPORTUNITIES

Typical on-air sponsorship reads are allocated in fifteen to thirty-second segments and are typically priced at $7 per mention. These mentions can occur:
  • Hourly
  • Daily
  • During a newscast
  • At the beginning of an individual show
  • During play-by-play coverage

As an online radio station, there are no sponsorship or underwriting rules, giving you more flexibility in messaging. We have station sponsorships, show sponsorships, play-by-play sports sponsorships and other advertiusing opportunities available- plus, we can bundle U82 with U92 ads to increase your enagagement with our audience.

  

  

Mountainlair Radio

Mountainlair Radio is a special radio station curated for the Mountainlair and heard throughout the first floor, including the Food Court, Hatfield's Dining Hall, dining areas and other common areas.

With over 30,000 people walking through the Mountainlair each day, advertising on Mountainlair Radio is a great way to get your message in front of a captive audience. We can tailor an advertising package for your business or organization with hourly or daily ads, as well as station sponsorships. Mountainlair Radio can also be bundled with tabling services within the Lair or InfoScreen mentions that run on screens throughout the building.

Newsletter Advertising

U92's weekly newsletter showcases the radio station with music lists, show info, sports schedules, and much more. This sponsorship is a great way to get the word out about your business or organization directly to the WVU community.

Sent to over 37,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents, the U92 newsletter has an open rate of 42%- over 12,000 people will see your ad every week!

We have four options to choose from:

  • Newsletter Main Sponsor- Your ad will appear at the top of the newsletter with a “brought to you by” message. This clickable ad can be customized with your branding and is sized 600x90 pixels.
  • Mid-Newsletter Ad: Your ad will appear in the middle of the newsletter as a banner ad. This clickable ad can be customized with your branding and is sized 600x90 pixels.
  • Bottom-Newsletter Ad: Your ad will appear at the bottom of the newsletter as a banner ad. This clickable ad can be customized with your branding and is sized 600x90 pixels.
  • Client-Spotlight: You will receive a block in our newsletter, located 2/3 down the newsletter. This can include up to 2 images and no more than 600 characters.

These ads can be bought weekly, in bundles of 3 weeks, or an entire semester.

We offer recording in our studio or can help facilitate a Zoom recording with the equipment and knowhow to make your podcast sound professional.
