No. 22 WVU Men’s Soccer hosts St. Bonaventure at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. After a 3-0 road loss to begin their season against the Charlotte 49ers, the Mountaineers look to rebound.
WVU is led by fourth-year striker Pablo Pozos, the Preseason Sun Belt Player of the Year. The captain scored 11 goals and added three assists last season, his first in Morgantown.
Fifteen of the Mountaineers’ 30-man roster return from 2025, as the team took to the recruitment cycle to replenish a large senior class. Third-year midfielders Nacho Martinez and Isaac Scheer were each named Preseason All-Sun Belt alongside Pozos.
Third-year winger Kanta Ishii headlines the newcomers in the attack, tallying 29 goal contributions in two seasons at Cowley College. International signee defender Aurélien Cormier headlines the backline, coming to Morgantown from the fifth tier of French football.
St. Bonaventure’s head coach Mick Giordano holds a 4-9-3 record as he starts his second year leading the program. The Bonnies were picked 12th in the preseason Atlantic 10 coaches' poll.
Midfielder Jack Steel scored the game-winning goal in St. Bonaventure’s season-opening 2-0 win against Niagara on Aug. 20. The London, England, native scored three goals for UNC Asheville last season.
