Morgantown, W.Va. (Sep. 5, 2023) - U92 The Moose will be broadcasting the University of Pittsburgh at WVU football game on Sep. 16, 2023 at 7:30 PM.
WVU-Pittsburgh has the distinction of being the first college football game ever broadcast on radio. The first game broadcast was in 1921.
This will be the first broadcast of the WVU-Pittsburgh football game on U92 in the 106-year history of the rivalry and the first Power 5 matchup U92 will broadcast in its history.
WVU vs. Pittsburgh will feature senior Tannor Lambert on play-by-play and junior Tanner Mountz on color. Jonathan Hamilton, Brian McQuillen and Quinn Robie will be covering all things Pre/Half/Post game.
Lambert, a Columbus native, is U92's Sports Director, lead play-by-play, and was part of U92's first 1st place CBI finish in at least a decade for U92's 2022 NFL Draft Show, in which he was a co-host.
“This is a great opportunity for the U92 Sports Staff and one that we don’t take lightly. We know how unique this experience will be and we cannot wait for our staff to be able to produce the content around the game and then the game itself,” Lambert says. “We pride ourselves on quality content and know that this will be one of the best broadcasts in U92 history.”
Mountz, from Reading, PA, is U92’s Football producer and the host of Touchdown City Tailgate.
“I have a lot of confidence that our sports staff, including having Tannor Lambert and Tanner Mountz heading the Pittsburgh broadcast, will deliver content that exceeds the quality of U92’s standards during this event,” says Aneissa Gallo, General Manager of the station. “The WVU Athletic Department was a key part of us being able to have a part in this game, so on behalf of U92, I would like to extend our utmost support and appreciation to everything within that helped make this possible.”
Since being founded in 1982, the station has broadcasted two WVU football games; WVU vs. Long Island University (2021) and WVU vs. Towson (2022). In the 2023 Football season, U92 will be doubling that by broadcasting the games against Duquesne and Pitt.
U92 placed 2nd in College Broadcasters Inc.'s (CBI) 2022 awards for Best Play-by-Play for coverage of the 2021 WVU-LIU game, which featured Luke Wiggs on play-by-play and Daniel Woods on color commentary in the winning submission.
U92's broadcast of WVU vs. Pittsburgh can be heard on 91.7 FM locally, u92themoose.com, or by using the TuneIn App, an Alexa At-Home Device, or the RadioFX app.
