Morgantown, W.Va. - The West Virginia Mountaineers women’s soccer team will face the
Liberty Flames on Sunday, September 8, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown, WV.
Last Thursday on September 5, the Mountaineers defeated the James Madison Dukes by a score
of 2-0 at home, the team’s second win in a row. The Mountaineers have a record of 4-2, with
all four wins taking place in Morgantown.
Junior forward Ajanae Respass led the team by scoring both goals against the Dukes. She
currently leads the team with four goals and three assists this season.
The Liberty Flames are currently undefeated with a 7-0 record. Their most recent victory was
on the road with a 2-1 victory over former No. 21 ranked Virginia Tech. This was the Flames’
first ever victory over a ranked team.
Redshirt sophomore Halle Engle leads the Flames in goals with six and points with thirteen.
She is coming off a two-goal game against Virginia Tech.
Last year was the first time the Mountaineers women’s soccer team competed against the
Flames, losing the game 3-1. The Mountaineers will look to get their first win against the
Flames and extend their winning streak to three.
