WVU Women's Soccer takes on Arizona in a Big 12 Conference Battle

West Virginia University Women’s Soccer (6-2-2) will host the University of Arizona Wildcats (7-4) at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.


This will be the Mountaineers' first home conference matchup of the 2025 campaign. Last
season, they only lost one Big 12 affair at DDSS and ended third in the conference with a record
of 8-2-1. The Wildcats finished in 7th with a conference record of 6-4-1. The two teams lone Big
12 draw came against each other in their only meeting of the season in Tempe, AZ.

WVU has played four straight games on the road and is just returning from a trip to Utah, where
they beat BYU 3-2 and drew 1-1 with the University of Utah. The Mountaineers currently sit at 1-
0-2 in Big 12 play.

During their win in Provo, senior forward Taylor White was credited with the game-winning goal,
which marked her team-leading fourth score of the season as well as the 20th tally of her
Mountaineer career.

In Salt Lake City, the night started with a scoreless first half, but the Utes got on the board at the
56:42 mark. That lead didn't last long as West Virginia responded at 57:41 with a goal from
junior midfielder Anna Hauer. To keep the score knotted, WVU’s junior goalkeeper Bailey
Herfurth notched a career-best five saves in the contest, continuing a stellar season in the net.

The Wildcats are coming off a 3-1 victory against Oklahoma State at Mulcahy Stadium in
Tucson, A.Z. Freshman Mireya Stephenson and sophomore Marissa Arnst earned their first
career goals to make the difference.Through 11 games this season, Arizona has given up the most goals in the Big 12 at 16. 

West Virginia has played one less game but has only conceded 7 scores. The teams both average
1.8 points per game.
