Mountaineers defend the diamond to oppose Maryland Terps

After winning another series, the Mountaineers are looking to extend their success by taking on the Maryland Terps. West Virginia cruised through their last few games, losing only one to the Columbia Lions and winning comfortably, 16-1, to take the series.

For two consecutive games, West Virginia recorded two grand slams to put the lions back in their cage. Matt Ineich was responsible for the grand slam, marking the first time the sophomore has gone deep this year.

Ineich demonstrated how explosive this West Virginia offense can be, as it features many sluggers at the plate, providing the team with enough depth to run the competition down. In the Columbia series alone, West Virginia scored 23 runs, bringing its average to eight runs per game.

The Mountaineers are now unranked after holding the No. 23 spot. This one game could help WVU to bounce back to where they want to be, even though they have won five straight series.

The Maryland Terps finished their last game with a tremendous comeback, hitting four home runs to get ahead of the Troy Trojans by one. Outfielder Jordan Crosland was a big contributor to this game by hitting a home run in the ninth with 2 RBI.

The Terps are currently 10-5 on the season. Three of their losses came from the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. This ball game will be the first time since 2023 that these two teams have met, with the last contest ending in Maryland falling 8-6.

U92 will provide live coverage, with Matt Foley providing play-by-play commentary. Matt will be accompanied by Conor Bratchford and assistant sports director Nico Caretto as color analysts for Tuesday's game.

For additional coverage, pregame and postgame coverage will be hosted by RJ Rice. Stella Reyes and Aaron Pepling will join RJ to highlight the ball game.

The first pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Kendrick Family Ballpark. Fans can listen in on WWVU 91.7FM or online at u92themoose.com.
