The Mountaineers will be playing the TCU Horned Frogs at 9:00 pm on Tuesday in a Big 12 brawl. TCU and West Virginia are both coming off losses and are desperate for a win.

West Virginia had a rough stretch of games over the last month, having lost four of the seven games played in February. These games have consisted of heartbreaking losses to games that leave fans on the edge of their seats. Injuries on the team have fans concerned about the outcome of the season.

Things that have hindered the Mountaineers in their last couple games have been due to accuracy issues and turnovers. At the Texas Tech game, the field goal percentage was 19-58 or 32.8%. TCU shares this accuracy issue, as in their loss to Cincinnati, they put up 27-66 on field goals (40.8%).

The Horned Frogs already have the disadvantage as they have to come prepared for the electric atmosphere in the Coliseum.

Javon Small has been a leader on the court all season with an average of 18.2 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game. Players that have been on the rise for this upcoming mountaineers squad are Johnathan Powell and Amani Hansberry. Hansberry averaged 9.9 points per game and Powell, 8.4.

Both of these young stars have tried their best to fill the shoes of Tucker DeVries since he has been out due to a shoulder injury. So far, Jonathan Powell has made many splash plays in crucial moments, while Amani has been increasingly more accurate with his field goals.

These two teams faced off earlier this month with the Horned Frogs coming out on top.  West Virginia lost, giving TCU 20 points by free throws.

Tuesday’s Big 12 matchup will be broadcasted on u92themoose.com and on 91.7 WWVU Morgantown starting at 8:30pm. Tanner Mountz and Cody Burton will be on the call from the coliseum.
