WVU Women's Basketball Welcomes BYU Saturday

The 18-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (11-2) look to continue its perfect home record in a Saturday night matchup against the BYU Cougars (9-4).

West Virginia is 1-1 in Big 12 conference play following a heartbreaking loss in Colorado to open conference play. In that game, WVU led by 11 through three quarters of play. In its most recent game, the Mountaineers dominated the UCF Knights 80-58, star guard JJ Quinerly had a season-high 31 points making 11 of 19 attempted shots.

The Mountaineers are led by the elite guard trio of Quinerly, Jordan Harrison, and Sydney Shaw scoring 46.7 of the team’s 82.5 points per game. All three players average north of 1.8 steals per game as well.

Head Coach Mark Kellogg is 22-2 in the WVU Coliseum since taking over as the head coach of the Mountaineers. WVU will aim to continue this splendid stretch of performances at home.

BYU, 0-2 in Big 12 play, will aim to upset the Mountaineers and grab their first conference win of the season. Both losses, to Arizona and Cincinnati, were within single digits.

The Cougars are led by freshman guard Delaney Gibb, who is scoring 17.1 points per game while shooting 41.1% from behind the arc in her first year of college hoops. Expect her to receive the primary defensive pressure from the fourth-ranked Mountaineers defense.

The game is set for tipoff at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. U92 will provide full coverage, with Quinn Robie on play-by-play, Luke Blain on color commentary, and Gabe Schon as the board operator in the studio.

The broadcast can be heard locally on 91.7 FM, u92themoose.com, an Alexa At-Home Device, or the RadioFX and TuneIn apps.
