MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia men’s basketball team opens the 2025-26 season Tuesday at home against Mount St. Mary’s.
Ross Hodge will make his debut as WVU’s head coach after joining the program from North Texas during the offseason. He leads an entirely new roster, as no players who recorded a statistic last season return for the Mountaineers.
Hodge brought two players from North Texas who are expected to start for WVU this season — forward Brenen Lorient and point guard Jasper Floyd. Lorient, the reigning American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year, averaged 11.7 points and 4.9 rebounds last season, while Floyd added 9.0 points and 4.0 assists per game for the Mean Green.
Mount St. Mary’s finished 23-13 last season and earned an NCAA Tournament berth as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion. The Mountaineers defeated American in a First Four matchup before falling to No. 1 seed Duke in the first round.
The Mount was picked to finish ninth in the MAAC preseason poll and returns one starter, senior guard Xavier Liscomb, an All-MAAC third-team selection. Liscomb averaged 6.8 points and 4.3 assists while starting all 36 games last season.
Mount St. Mary’s is led by second-year head coach Donny Lind.
U92 Sports Director Quinn Robie will have the play-by-play call, and Brett Berner will join him as the color analyst. Pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage will be hosted by Charlie Steensma, Matt Foley, Aaron Pepling, and DJ McDermott.
The pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m. The broadcast can be heard locally on 91.7 FM, u92themoose.com, an Alexa at-home device, and the TuneIn app on mobile.
