Mountaineers Look for a Win in Game Two against Ohio State

On Saturday, the West Virginia Mountaineers will look to take the series win vs the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Kendrick Family ballpark in Granville, West Virginia at 4:00PM

The Mountaineers who are currently 11-7, won last night's series opener 5-2 as we saw a back and forth pitchers duel in Game 1.

Junior Aidan Major continued on his brilliant season tying his career high in strikeouts with 9. His final line was 6IP, 2 runs allowed with 1 earned.

Ohio State Lefty Landon Beidelschies was brilliant posting a career high 12 strikeouts. His final line was 7.1 IP 3 ER.

The Mountaineers look to build off their late 7th inning comeback led by a leadoff Reid Chumley Double and a go ahead no doubt 3 run Homer by Skylar King.

David Hagaman closed out the game with a 6 out save, tossing 6Ks. This sets up for a pivotal Saturday matchup as the Mountaineers look to bring home a series win and a potential series sweep leading up to Sunday's matchup. `

West Virginia also welcomed back Grant Hussey to the starting lineup Friday night. They continue to be without the likes of star players JJ Weatherholt who will miss his 15th straight game Saturday and Logan Suave who will miss his 7th straight.

Expected Pitcher for the mountaineers is Lefty Derek Clark, the Northwood University transfer who looks to build off of his strong start to solidify his role as the Saturday Starter behind Ace Aidan Major.

West Virginia has right-handers Hambleton Oliver (1.88 ERA) and Gavin Van Kempen (4.34 ERA) available to use out of the bullpen.

For the Buckeyes, they come into this one with a  8-8 record, led by Right Fielder and Captain Mitchell Okuley. Okuley is batting .375 with 14 RBIs to date this season. Shortstop Henry Kaczmar who comes into Saturday riding a 15 game hitting streak, coming off a 3 hit night and 3rd basemen Tyler Pettorini are also names to keep an eye on for the Buckeyes this weekend
