West Virginia aims to bounce back at Home vs No. 6 Houston

West Virginia Men's Basketball (13-6, 4-4) are set to host the No. 6 ranked Houston Cougars (16-3, 8-0) on Wednesday night in Morgantown.

In their last game the Mountaineers fell at the hands of the Kansas State Wildcats in a double-digit loss in Manhattan. This marked the Mountaineers’ second straight loss to an unranked opponent since their marquee win against the former No. 2 ranked Iowa State Cyclones on Jerry West Night.

West Virginia Guard Javon Small was recently awarded with Midseason All-American honors and he currently holds the Big 12 scoring crown with 19.6 points per game.

Small led the charge in the Mountaineers’ recent road loss to Kansas State with 22 points, two rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

The last time the Mountaineers faced off against Houston, their luck ran out. The Cougars shot just shy of 50 percent from the field behind a hyper-efficient 22 point outing from J’Wan Roberts.

Roberts has been a force for this Cougar offense, averaging 11 points and just shy of seven rebounds per night on 54.3 percent from the field. He looks to continue his impactful season on Wednesday Night in Morgantown.

Houston are coming off of a statement win in Phog Allen Fieldhouse against No. 12 Kansas in which they scored six unanswered points in six seconds to force double-overtime. The Cougars capped off their miraculous comeback with a dominant second-overtime period to seal a 92-86 win in hostile territory.

U92 will have live coverage of the game with Tanner Mountz on play-by-play commentary and Nico Caretto as color analyst. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM and starting at 6:30 PM Brett Berner will be hosting pregame, halftime and postgame coverage with Dom Brusco, Kameron Tomasetti, and Logan Powell.
