MORGANTOWN, W.Va. —The West Virginia Mountaineers men's soccer team opens up Sun Belt conference play against the James Madison Dukes at Dick Dlesk Stadium.
West Virginia (4-1-1) returns to Morgantown on a two-game win streak after beating No. 22 George Mason and Longwood on the road. The Mountaineers are coming off a dominant 2-0 shutout against Longwood.
In last week's win against Longwood, the Mountaineers outshot the Lancers 12-5, with three of those shots on goal, while Longwood had only two. After finishing the first half tied 0-0, the Mountaineers pulled away in the second, scoring two to put the game out of reach.
West Virginia is led by junior forward Pablo Pozos and senior forward Marcus Caldeira, who have combined for 10 of the team's 17 goals on the season, with Pozos leading the way with 6.
James Madison (0-4-1) is coming off a 0-0 tie against Liberty, which saw the Dukes get outshot 7-10 but still managed to put three of those shots on goal. The Dukes are led by Diego Ossa, who has scored the team's only goal of the season against Rutgers in their third game of the season.
The Mountaineers look to extend their win streak to three and start conference play with a win. Meanwhile, the Dukes look to end their early-season struggles and pick up their first win of the season.
