WVU Baseball to Host UCF on Sunday

On Sunday April 14th the West Virginia Mountaineers face the #17 Central Florida GoldenKnights at 1:00 pm at the Kendrick family Ballpark as they look to earn the sweep in this pivotal Big 12 series.

The Mountaineers who moved to 21-13 in last night's matchup are coming into Sunday's game after rallying late in Friday's opener to take game one. Kyle West led the late comeback with a game tying two-run HR in the 5th and a go ahead RBI triple in the seventh.

David Hagaman bounced back from his struggles against Oklahoma state, throwing five strikeouts and earning the six-out-save. On Saturday, Derek Clark provided bullpen relief as he pitched his second complete game in a row, making it his fourth consecutive outing pitching 9+ innings.

The Mountaineers seem to have found their 1-2 punch in Aidan Major and Derek Clark. JJ Wetherholt, Reed Chumley, and Sam White all provided offense in Saturday's game, each homering.

The Mountaineers now stand in sole possession of 2nd place in the Big 12 conference as they look to keep pace with Oklahoma, who got off to a late Saturday start. With a sweep tomorrow, this will be their second in a row, which will have them knocking on the doors of a top 25 ranking.

Sunday's probable pitcher for the Mountaineers is left handed pitcher Tyler Switalski. Switalskiis 1-1 on the season in eight appearances holding a 7.52 ERA. The bullpen for the Mountaineers is fresh as Maxx Yehl and Hambleton Oliver are available for use.

For the Golden Knights, they come into Sunday's matchup holding a 21-11 record. They are led by right fielder Matt Prevesk and first baseman Lex Boedicker. Prevesk comes into Sunday's matchup batting .362 with 20 RBIS. The power in the Golden Knights lineup comes from second basemen Andrew Estella, who leads the team with six home runs.
