WVU Looks to Stay Perfect at Home Against Coppin State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia men’s basketball team is set to take on Coppin State. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series 3-0.

WVU looks to continue its winning ways. Last time out, the Mountaineers held Mercyhurst to 38 points and rode their defense to a win. That was the fewest points allowed since facing Coppin State in 2017.

Chance Moore and Amir Jenkins led WVU against Mercyhurst, with Moore scoring 11 points and Jenkins adding 10. This season, however, Honor Huff has been WVU’s top scorer, averaging 15 points per game.

For Coppin State, the season has gotten off to a less-than-ideal start. The Eagles are 2-8 through their first 10 games.

Demariontay Hall has been the catalyst for Coppin State’s offense, averaging 10 points and five rebounds. Khali Horton has also been efficient, averaging nine points.

Coppin State’s last outing was a 95-84 loss to Loyola Maryland, where Hassan Perkins posted 19 points, five assists and two rebounds.

After this matchup, WVU heads to Charleston, West Virginia, for the Holiday Hoopfest presented by CharlestonWV.com to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC vs. Big 12 matchup. You can catch that game on U92 the Moose.

Coppin State will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia, to take on Liberty.

West Virginia boasts a 14-0 record all-time against teams from the MEAC, and Coppin State has never won in the WVU Coliseum, sitting at 0-3.

WVU will return to the Coliseum on Dec. 9 to host Little Rock. The Mountaineers are 6-0 at home this season and will look to extend that streak.

Sports Director Quinn Robie will have the play-by-play, and Andy Hartlove will provide color commentary at 7 p.m. Conor Bratchford, Dom Brusco, Nate Skinner and Brayden Laslo will have pregame coverage at 6:30 p.m., as well as halftime and postgame coverage.

The broadcast can be heard locally on 91.7 FM in Morgantown, online at U92TheMoose.com, on the TuneIn app and on Alexa-enabled devices.
