West Virginia Baseball hosts Kennesaw State for a three game series

The West Virginia Mountaineers (12-0) take on the Kennesaw State Owls (5-9) in game one of a three game set. The Mountaineers have been red hot to open this season after twelve straight wins to open the year and to achieve the best start in school history.

Grant Hussey has led this mountaineer team in homeruns with two but it has been a valiant team effort resulting in an undefeated start. Brodie Kresser has been lights out at the dish with 17 hits in twelve games, with a .425 average which is second best on the team.

On the mound Carson Estridge has been absolutely electric, boasting a perfect 0.00 ERA in 15 innings pitched and has a 2-0 win loss record. Griffin Kirn currently leads the team in strikeouts with 16.

Outfielder Chris Cole leads Kennesaw State in hits with 19 hits and a .352 batting average. Nate Anderson has tallied three early home runs this year for the Owls.

Halton Hardy also boasts a perfect 0.00 ERA in only 4.1 innings pitched. Harry Cain has a team high 15 strikeouts in only nine innings pitched.

The Mountaineers come into this series fresh off a series sweep against Queens College in North Carolina where WVU flexed their muscle at the plate and shut down the Royals on the defensive side.

The Mountaineers scored at least seven runs in each of the four games. WVU will return back home where they are 1-0 after winning their home opener against the Bobcats of Ohio University.

For Kennesaw State they look to get back into the win column after dropping two straight against Samford, and Georgia Tech. To start the season the Owls have been tested heavily playing three power four opponents, with WVU being their fourth on the young season.

After this series it will get easier for Kennesaw State as they have a one game set with Mercer than another series with The Citadel before opening up CUSA play.
