U92 set to broadcast as West Virginia hosts NCAA Tournament rounds

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University women’s basketball program is set to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992.

U92 is set to broadcast the historic game live from Morgantown.

West Virginia put itself in position to host after winning its first Big 12 Tournament championship since 2017. The Mountaineers defeated Texas Christian, 62-53, to earn the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Mountaineers have posted 27 wins this season, marking the third-most in program history. Over the last three seasons, West Virginia is 44-5 inside the WVU Coliseum.

West Virginia is the No. 4 seed and will face No. 13 seed Miami (Ohio). With a win, the Mountaineers would face the winner of No. 5 seed Kentucky and No. 12 seed James Madison.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at 5 p.m. EDT at the WVU Coliseum.

On play-by-play for the first and second rounds will be U92 Sports Director Quinn Robie. Robie is a senior sports media major from Hurricane, West Virginia, and has called numerous WVU athletic events, including football and men’s basketball. He is also the former lead play-by-play broadcaster for the West Virginia Black Bears.

Joining him as color analyst will be U92 Assistant Sports Director Nico Caretto. Caretto is a junior sports and adventure media student at WVU and is in his third year with U92. He has previously worked as a broadcaster with U92 and the West Virginia Black Bears.

Andrew Hartlove will be on the station controls as the broadcast producer. Pregame coverage will be led by the U92 sports staff, beginning at 4:30 p.m., while Robie and Caretto will handle halftime and postgame coverage.
