West Virginia looks for bounce back win against Iona after Backyard Brawl

Morgantown W.Va. - After a disappointing 86-62 point loss to the Pitt Panthers, West Virginia (2-1) comes back home to take on the Iona Gaels (1-3).

Coming back to the Coliseum, WVU looks to get its offense back on track after the mountaineers shot only 38.7% from the field and 20.7% from three-point range.

Freshmen sensation Jonathan Powell continued his sizzling start to the season with 16 points in the game, bringing his total for the year to 37 points after just three games.

Star player Tucker DeVries was never able to get going against Pitt tallying only 6 points on 2-10 shooting and fouled out in 32 minutes of play.

Iona comes into this game with a 1-3 record, picking up their first win of the season in the previous game against Vermont where star guard Dejour Reaves dropped 22 points.

Reaves is the Gaels go to option as the team's leading scorer at 15.5 points per game in the first four games of the year.

West Virginia will look to get going early against Iona with an offense that comes into this game shooting nearly 44% percent from the field with the Gaels defense allowing 48% of the shots against them. A way WVU hopes to do this is by capitalizing on the turnover-prone Gaels who average 17 turnovers a game.

The Mountaineers look to continue to defend home court on Wednesday, November 20th with the opening tip happening at 7:00 p.m. U92 will provide coverage with Luke Blain on play-by-play and Nico Caretto on color commentary.
