WVU Women's Basketball to host Oklahoma

The West Virginia’s women’s basketball team will take on the #23 ranked OklahomaSooners at 1 p.m. on Saturday. West Virginia is coming off of a 77-52 win against TCU, while Oklahoma is coming off of a 84-73 win against #21 ranked Baylor.

The Mountaineers remain at #24 in the AP Poll with a 21-3 record and being 2nd in the Big 12.After losing to Baylor on the road last Saturday, West Virginia got a rebound win at TCU to close out their road trip. The starting five for the Mountaineers has remained the same over the course of the season, led by junior guard JJ Quinerly, who leads the team with 19.1points per game and 3.2 steals per game. Three of West Virginia’s last five games of then regular season will be at the Coliseum. The Mountaineers currently have a 12-1 record at their home stadium.

The #23 ranked Oklahoma Sooners are on a nine-game winning streak with a 18-6 record and being 1st in the Big 12. Their streak began back on Jan. 13 with a 73-55 win againstTexas Tech. The Sooners have beaten multiple ranked teams during their winning streak such as #10 ranked Texas and #2 ranked Kansas State. Senior forward Skylar Vann leads the team with 15.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Sophomore forwardKiersten Johnson had a big game coming off the bench against Baylor, with 20 points and 3blocks. The Sooners have done well on the road, with a record of 7-1 in away games.

Saturday’s Big 12 game will be broadcast on u92themoose.com and on 91.7 WWVUMorgantown with the game starting at 1:00 p.m. Jonathan Hamilton and Brian McQuillen will be on the call from the Coliseum. Pre-game, halftime, and post-game coverage will be hosted by Lance Jonzen.
