Morgantown, W. Va. - The sixth-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (9-1-3) host the Georgia State Panthers (3-6-4) in their True Blue game.
The Mountaineers look to continue the momentum from their 1-0 victory against the South Carolina Gamecocks this past Saturday, in which freshman midfielder Isaac Sheer scored his second goal of the season in the 88th minute to secure the win for his side.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Marc Bonnaire secured his seventh clean sheet of the season against South Carolina.
Led by attackers fifth-year Sergio Ors Navarro (11 goals, three assists) and junior Marcus Caldeira (seven goals), the Mountaineers have plenty of offensive firepower to display.
Georgia State is coming off a 1-1 draw against Georgia Southern and are winless in their last six matches. Their lone goal scorer against GA. Southern was defender Charlie Ward, his first of the season.
The Panthers’ goal leader is junior midfielder Justin McLean, with four this season. They are winless (0-3-2) in the Sun Belt this season.
Currently, the Mountaineers are undefeated (4-0-1) in the competitive Sun Belt Conference and sit in first place with 13 points, ahead of second-place Marshall with 11.
West Virginia looks to recover after falling from first place in the nation to sixth from the 5-1 defeat they took against Dayton two games ago.
