No.18 West Virginia hosts Kansas State in crucial weekend series

The West Virginia Mountaineers return home after dropping a series to the Cincinnati Bearcats, including a 7-5 loss in the finale after leading in the eighth inning. Now, WVU looks to regain momentum with a weekend series against Kansas State.

Left-hander Maxx Yehl is set to start Friday for the Mountaineers. Yehl enters with a sub-3.00 ERA, recording 62 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched this season.

The Mountaineers have been strong on the mound this year. Starting pitchers Chansen Cole and Maxx Yehl were both named semifinalists for the College Baseball Foundation’s National Pitcher of the Year Award.

Kansas State will counter with right-hander Tazwell Butler. In 33 innings pitched, Butler holds a 6.00 ERA with 39 strikeouts.

Offensively, the Wildcats are led by shortstop Dee Kennedy. The junior is among the top hitters in the Big 12, batting .392 with 16 home runs.

U92 will provide live coverage of the series. Sports Director Quinn Robie will handle play-by-play for Friday’s game, alongside color analysts Dom Brusco and Brayden Laslo.

For Saturday, Richard Turkovich will serve as play-by-play commentator, joined by Aaron Pepling and Nico Caretto as color analysts.

Sunday’s broadcast will feature DJ McDermott on play-by-play, with Domenic Brusco and Nate Skinner providing color commentary.

Each game will also include pregame and postgame coverage. Friday’s shows will be hosted by Aaron Pepling, with Ian Murray joining. Dom Brusco will host Saturday’s coverage. Sunday’s pregame and postgame shows will be hosted by Andrew Hartlove, joined by Murray and Pepling.
