WVU Men's Soccer Takes On Loyola Marymount

Morgantown, W.Va. – U92  will be broadcasting the WVU men’s soccer game on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. The Mountaineers will be playing Loyola Marymon at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown.

The Mountaineers are coming off their 16th win of the season that set a program record and has found recent success on the pitch behind the six goals from senior Yutaro Tsukada in the last six games.

Pregame coverage will start at 1:30 p.m., then at 2 p.m., join Tannor Lambert on Play by Play, and Manny Maradiegue on Color on the call.

Lambert, a senior journalism student and Columbus native, is U92's Sports Director, lead play-by-play, and was part of U92's first 1st place CBI finish in at least a decade for U92's 2022 NFL Draft Show, in which he was a co-host. 

Maradiegue, a senior from Point Pleasant, NJ, has been involved with U92’s sports staff for the past four years, providing valuable commentary and play-by-play for countless soccer matches. He is a first generation college student studying sports and adventure media. 

West Virginia men’s soccer looks to advance to the final four for the first time under Head Coach Dan Stratford. 

The Mountaineers outlasted the catamounts of Vermont 2-1 in the last round to advance to the elite eight. Junior Max Broughton scored the game winning goal in the 82nd minute from a corner kick from junior Fredrik Jorgensen.

Senior Jackson Lee made seven saves in goal, the most he has had during his time at West Virginia. Lee made an important save in the 89th minute to secure the victory.

Loyola Marymount is coming of a 1-0 win over James Madison, an opponent West Virginia tied within the regular season. The Lions lone goal was a volley to the net by senior Ryan Kingsford.

The last time these 2 teams met was in 2005 with the result being a 1-1 draw that lasted two overtime periods.

The Mountaineers look to advance to Louisville to play in the college cup.
