On February 13-14, U92 held their second annual pledge drive fundraising event to raise donations for upgrades to the station and studio equipment. Donators more than doubled the goal of $5,000 by donating $10,715 for our students.
The 36-hour event consisted of 27 different programs with over 40 students and personalities on air including bands: If Kansas Had Trees, Dust Ball and Porch Couch.
Charles Green from the Center for Black Culture, Olivia Dale Paper from Collegiate Recovery and Kelly Banard from the LGBTQ+ Center all collaborated for radio segments throughout the drive. WVU Women’s Soccer Coach, Nikki Izzo Brown also sat down with members of the sport’s staff during the kick off live remote in the Mountainlair.
Students were fueled all day long with sponsors from Tera Cafe, Smokin Js, Chick Fil A on Patteson, Black Bear Burrito and Papa Johns. Alum, Tina Lutz-Griesheimer also provided student media with some Crumbl Cookies during the drive.
To keep the programming running all night long, directors Mason Deel and Max Clark along with other members of the station stayed up and played card games in between their shows. Some notable shows you might just see again next year include: Mason Deel’s Karaoke Power Hour, Morgantown Sound: Live Bands in Studio and the Sports Live Remote.
Thank you to everyone who donated, listened to the shows or shared U92’s social media content!
