West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum Selected to Jacksonville Jaguars No. 89 Overall

With the 89th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, West Virginia offensive tackle Wyatt Milum was selected Friday to join the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Milum; a native of Kenova, West Virginia, was a huge asset for the Mountaineers since his freshman year, starting a total of 43 games in four seasons. His accolades include 2024 Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year, 2024 All-Big 12 Football First Team, and he was named a 2024 Consensus All-American.

The Jacksonville Jaguars moved up in the draft to select Milum, sending the Houston Texans pick No. 102 and No. 142 for No. 89 and No. 236. Milum was the Jaguars third selection in the draft, selecting Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter at No. 2 and Tulane cornerback Caleb Ransaw at No. 88.

Milum is the fourth West Virginia player drafted by the Jaguars. The last time the Jaguars selected a Mountaineer was tackle Kevin Landolt in 1999.

The Mountaineers have now had two offensive linemen who are West Virginia natives selected in the NFL draft in back-to-back years. The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted West Virginia center and Fairmont native Zach Frazier in the second round of the 2024 draft.

Despite primarily making appearances at tackle for West Virginia, it is speculated that Milum will most likely transition to be a guard for Jacksonville. Former Jaguars linebacker T.J. Slaughter announced Milum’s selection on stage in Green Bay, stating that he was a guard.

Milum’s job will be to help protect fifth-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence who is a former No. 1 overall selection by the Jaguars. The Jaguars will aim to improve from last year’s 4-13 record under first-year head coach Liam Coen.

While Milum was the only Mountaineer selected in the 2025 NFL draft, several were signed yesterday as undrafted free agents. Notably, West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a wide receiver. Others include tight end Kole Taylor to the Cincinnati Bengals, long snapper Austin Brinkman to the Houston Texans, defensive lineman TJ Jackson to the Seattle Seahawks, defensive lineman Fatorma Mulbah to the New York Jets, and defensive back Garnett Hollis Jr. to the Tennessee Titans.

The Mountaineers will return to action with new head coach Rich Rodriguez on August 30th at home against Robert Morris. West Virginia running back Jaheim White was named a prospect to watch for the 2026 NFL Draft by Pro Football Focus.
