Sabrina Carpenter's Album Review

Sabrina Carpenter's new album, Man’s Best Friend, was released on August 29th, 2025.
This album consists of 12 songs and is 38 minutes long, released just over a year after her
Short n’ Sweet album, and following its massive success. Her last project established Sabrina
as one of the biggest rising pop stars, and she is not ready to slow down. Man's Best Friend
pushes her persona even further, drawing inspiration from ‘70s disco while including her witty
hooks and cheeky storytelling. The album feels like an emotional ride through the phases of a
breakup. A big theme in this album is Sabrina’s unapologetic attitude toward her exes, and she
calls them out directly in “Go Go Juice,” highlighting the boldness that runs throughout the
album.

My favorite songs from the album are House Tour, Goodbye, Nobody's Son, and Sugar
Talking. These tracks cover the messiness of modern dating with dirty jokes, turning bitterness
into sing-along hooks. “Nobody's Son” shows a vulnerable side, bringing attention to rejection
and self-worth, while “Sugar Talking” brings back the disco with sharp commentary on smooth
talkers who can’t back up their words. While some listeners think the album is controversial due
to its provocative album cover and bold lyrics, I think that’s exactly what makes it so compelling.
Sabrina isn’t scared to spark controversy, and in doing so, she delivers an album that feels
fresh. Sabrina drew inspiration for this album from her heroes, Dolly Parton, the Carpenters,
ABBA and The Bee Gees. She turned heartbreak into a glamorous disco soundtrack, proving
she’s unafraid to take risks and redefine what breakup pop can sound like.
