West Virginia host Kentucky in Sun Belt Semifinals

Morgantown, W. Va. - The first-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers (11-1-6) will take on the Kentucky Wildcats (6-5-6) in a crucial Sun Belt Semifinal match.

The Mountaineers are coming off a thrilling first-round victory against the Georgia Southern Eagles, where the Mountaineers were down 2-0 in the first half before Marcus Caldeira scored a penalty just before halftime to start a run of three unanswered goals for his side. The incredible comeback was capped with an 81st-minute goal by Sun Belt Player of the Year, Sergio Ors Navarro, to win the game for WVU.

This is a Kentucky team that tied with West Virginia earlier this season. All-Sun Belt Second Team goalkeeper, Marc Bonnaire, saved two shots in that match for WVU.

Kentucky is led by All-Sun Belt First Teamer, Logan Dorsey, who is tied with Ors Navarro for the Sun Belt goal lead with 13. With three assists on the year, he has accounted for 55.1% of Kentucky’s 29 goals.

The winner of this game will play Marshall or James Madison in the Sun Belt Championship finals. With a WVU win, this game would be played on Sunday, Nov. 17 and be hosted in Dick Dlesk.

Kick-off is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The game will be broadcast on U92 The Moose, where you can hear Quinn Robie on play-by-play and Nico Caretto on color commentary. Starting at 6:30 p.m., Brett Berner, Brayden Laslo and Benjamin Stautzenbach will be featured on the pregame/halftime/postgame show. You can listen live locally on 91.7 FM, u92themoose.com, an Alexa At-Home Device, or the RadioFX and TuneIn apps.
