WVU Men's Soccer Takes on Marshall

Morgantown, W.Va. (Oct. 18, 2023) - U92 the Moose will be broadcasting the men’s soccer game on Wednesday at 7pm as the #1 ranked Marshall University Thundering Herd will arrive at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium for a matchup against the #9 ranked Mountaineers.

Pregame coverage of the matchup can also be found on U92, beginning at 6:30pm and continuing all the way up until kickoff.

Earlier in the week when the NCAA Men’s Soccer RPI ranking came out, they placed West Virginia (8-0-4) at #9 while Marshall (12-0-0) has continued to hail as the #1 ranked men’s soccer team in the United States.

The highly anticipated Mountain State derby will feature Tannor Lambert on play-by-play and Mariano Maradiegue on color.

Lambert, a senior journalism major and Columbus,OH native, is U92's Sports Director and lead play-by-play. He was also a part of the annual U92 Draft Day Show, which won an award in 2022.

Maradiegue, a first generation college student studying sports and adventure media, is from Point Pleasant, NJ. For the past four years of being involved with U92’s sports staff, Maradiegue has provided valuable commentary and play-by-play for countless soccer matches.

The rivalry between the two schools has been present since 1983, where WVU took home the first win in a 2-0 match. Since then, the Mountaineers and the Thundering Herd have met a total of 25 times, with WVU holding the winning record of 16-7-2. The upcoming match on Wednesday will mark the 26th meeting between the clubs.

The WVU Athletics department announced that the game is sold out to the general public and students will be admitted on a first come, first served basis.

U92's broadcast of the matchup can be heard on 91.7 FM locally, u92themoose.com, an Alexa At-Home Device, or the RadioFX and TuneIn apps.
