The 18-ranked West Virginia University Mountaineers (21-6) host the University of Utah Utes (21-6) on Wednesday night.
After a crushing defeat against Texas Christian University last time out, the Mountaineers look to bounce back and improve their resume with a win against Utah. The Utes received votes in the most recent AP Poll.
Against the Horned Frogs, WVU shot 30.5% overall, and 16.7% from three. Star players JJ Quinerly and Jordan Harrison shot a combined 8/32. WVU will look for more out of them on Wednesday.
The WVU defense, spearheaded by Quinerly, Kyah Watson, and Sydney Woodley off the bench has been dominant at home this year. The team allows 48.3 points per game at home on average, which is important in maintaining an undefeated 15-0 record at home this season.
Head Coach Mark Kellogg is 30-2 at the WVU Coliseum as the Mountaineers’ coach.
Quinerly in her four years at WVU has scored over 1800 career points, over 300 career steals, and has won the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. She has been named to multiple WNBA Draft Boards as a player to watch.
The Utes are led by junior guard Gianna Kneepkens, who averages 19.4 points per game along with 5.1 rebounds. She is shooting a scorching 46.6% on 178 attempts from beyond the arc this season.
Utah looks to extend its lead on WVU in the Big 12 standings.
U92 The Moose will bring live coverage with play-by-play commentator Quinn Robie and Brayden Laslo as the color analyst inside the WVU Coliseum. The game will tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. and the pregame show will start at 6:30 p.m.. Andrew Hartlove will be hosting Pre/Half/Post alongside Kam Tomasetti, Cody Burton, and RJ Rice.
