Top-seeded Mountaineers host Georgia Southern in first Sun Belt Championship match

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The regular season Sun Belt champion and 10th-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (10-1-6) will welcome the eight-seed Georgia Southern Eagles (6-6-4) in a crucial tournament match.

After a hard-fought draw against in-state rival Marshall in Huntington, W. Va., WVU clinched the Sun Belt and home-field advantage throughout the entire Sun Belt Championship. The team is led by Sun Belt Coach of the Year Dan Stratford and looks to win its first Sun Belt title.

West Virginia heads into tournament play with hopes high on another college cup run. Senior leader Sergio Ors Navarro was recently named both Sun Belt Overall and Offensive Player of the Year. He has 12 goals and four assists this year. WVU is coming off three straight draws after its last victory against Georgia State. They are striving for a win in this crucial tournament.

Georgia Southern is a respectable side in this matchup, with 27 goals scored compared to 25 from their opponents. It is gearing up to be an incredible display of soccer on Sunday afternoon.
