Morgantown, W.Va. - The West Virginia Mountaineers men’s soccer team will face the
Kentucky Wildcats on Friday, September 27, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in
Morgantown, WV.
Last Saturday on September 21, West Virginia narrowly defeated the Old Dominion
Monarchs by a score of 1-0 on the road. It was the first win for the Mountaineers after
two straight draws against Loyola Marymount and UNC Greensboro. The Mountaineers
have yet to lose a game this season.
Against Old Dominion, West Virginia was led by junior midfielder Ethan Dekel Daks,
who scored his first goal of the season. Goalkeeper Marc Bonnaire recorded his fifth
win of the season with three saves against the Monarchs.
The Kentucky Wildcats have begun their season with an overall record of 1-2-3. They
have only played one game on the road this season, where they tied against Lipscomb
by a score of 2-2.
The Wildcats are led this season by sophomore forward Isaiah Chisolm, who has two
goals and four points this season. Goalkeeper Casper Mols has a 1.60 GAA and has
not allowed more than two goals in a game this season.
Since 2019, the Mountaineers have had a 0-3-1 record against the Wildcats. The last
matchup between the two teams was in 2023, which ended in a 0-1 defeat for West
Virginia. The Mountaineers will look to get their first ever win against the Wildcats on
Friday.
