The West Virginia Mountaineers will travel back home to host the UCF Knights in a series that will determine who stands at the top of the Big 12. As of right now, the Knights have an 8-1 record in the conference, with West Virginia only being a game behind.
UCF and West Virginia have some similarities with their own unique ways of winning ballgames. West Virginia is more known for situational hitting and taking advantage of opportunities while the Knights have a lights-out pitching staff.
An exemplary example of this would be UCF’s best pitcher in junior Matt Sauser who boasts a conference-low ERA of 0.64. If Sauser is not able to pitch due to back tightness, then UCF will not have to worry as they are plentiful in pitchers.
This series is really going to come down to the team that can throw the heat down the plate, as both teams are at the bottom of the list when it comes to putting runs on the board. West Virginia ranks last in the conference with the Knights being one spot above them.
The Mountaineers are led offensively by fifth-year Paul Schoenfeld. Schoenfeld has an above 400 batting average with 28 RBIs.
U92 will provide live coverage, with Andrew Hartlove providing play-by-play commentary for the first game. Andy will be accompanied by Conor Bratchford and Alex Silverman as color analysts for Friday’s ball game.
For the second game of the series, Conor Bratchford will be the play-by-play commentator. Supporting Conor for this game, Domenic Brusco and Nate Skinner will take the helm as color analysts.
The final ballgame will be hosted by Cody Burton as the play-by-play, with some commentary provided by his color analysts, assistant sports director Nico Caretto, and Aaron Pepling.
For further coverage, each game will have a pregame and postgame show. Friday will be hosted by Sports Director Quinn Robie, who will be joined by Kam Tomasetti and Crystal Hanes and Saturday’s Pre and Post crew is TBD, and Sunday will be hosted by Conor Bratchford, joined by Dom Brusco and Kam Tomasetti.
