WVU Women's Basketball to Play Cincinnati

The West Virginia Women's Basketball team is set to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Wednesday, January 3rd at 7 pm at the WVU Coliseum. This will be West Virginia’s BIG12 conference play home opener. West Virginia is off to a very impressive 12-0 record to begin the season. The Cincinnati Bearcats come into the contest with an 8-4 overall record.

The Mountaineers have recently found themselves inside of the AP Top 25 Poll. The Mountaineers debuted last week in the poll at No. 25. This week The Mountaineers sit at No.24. The Mountaineers are just one of six teams inside the top 25 to still have an unbeaten record to this point in the season.

The Mountaineers are headlined by a strong duo of guards between JJ Quinerly. Quinerly paces the Mountaineers in scoring with a very impressive 18.5 points per game. Harrison also averages 14.3 points per game.

The Mountaineers defense has been just as impressive as their offense this season. The Mountaineers average just over 17 turnovers a game. This great defense has become known for its full-court press. This defense has allowed for lots of fast break and transition offense for The Mountaineers.

The Bearcats are coming off a BIG12 conference play loss to the 11th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats. The Bearcats' four losses this season all have come to teams ranked inside of the AP Top 25 Poll. Scoring for the Bearcats is headlined by Jillian Hayes, who averages 12.5 points per contest for the Bearcats.
