No. 22 Mountaineers Take On No. 14 Baylor in Top‑25 Showdown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mark Kellogg and his battle-tested Mountaineers (17-5, 7-3) return to Morgantown looking to bounce back and pick up a big-time win against the No.14-ranked Baylor Bears.

West Virginia is coming off a tough 71-64 loss to the Utah Utes in a game where the Mountaineers struggled from behind the arc, going just 2-12 on 3-pointers. The Mountaineers were led by Jordan Harrison, who dropped 18 points and had seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers look to move to 3-2 against ranked opponents and pick up their first ranked win at the Hope Coliseum this season.

West Virginia comes into this game led by a ferocious defense that ranks fifth in scoring defense in Big 12 play, giving up just over 59 points per game. Meanwhile, the Baylor Bears come into Morgantown with the third-best scoring defense in conference play, giving up just over 56 points per game.

The Mountaineers' defense is led by senior guard Harrison, who is averaging close to three steals per game. Meanwhile, on the offensive side of the ball, West Virginia is led by junior guard Gia Cooke, who leads the team in points with 14.5 ppg.

West Virginia looks to pick up just their second win at Hope Coliseum against the Bears, as the Bears are 11-1 on the road against the Mountaineers.

Baylor (19-3, 8-1) is led by head coach Nicki Collen, who is currently in her fifth season with the team. Coach Collen looks to extend the team's win streak to nine straight as they look to stay perfect on the road.

The Bears are led by sophomore guard Taliah Scott, who is averaging over 20 ppg, and senior forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, who is averaging a double-double this season.

U92 The Moose will bring live coverage of the game, with Brett Berner on play-by-play and Matt Foley handling color commentary from Hope Coliseum. The tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1.
