West Virginia prepares for a brawl against a ranked No.11 South Carolina

No. 16 WVU Men’s Soccer hosts the No.11 South Carolina Gamecocks in a ranked matchup to potentially take the Sun Belt. This game will be crucial to see which program can thrive and make it to the top of the conference.

West Virginia is coming off a draw against Marshall, one of their biggest rivals. In this 1-1 draw, the transfer from Pitt, Jacob Redenfors, recorded the only score to keep West Virginia contending.

Redenfors was given Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance.

Leading the Mountaineers in scoring is none other than Pablo Pozos. Pozos is paramount to this team, having 4 goals and 2 assists to really be that difference maker when he is needed.

Offensively, there are a lot of playmakers on this Mountaineers squad that can be counted on. Players such as second-year forwards Sammie Walker and Julen Recalde have each recorded 2 goals this season, making this offense more than just a one-dimensional unit.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are also coming off a 1-1 draw against JMU. Within this game, the transfer from Marshal Loïc Sany Kong scored in the first half to help the Gamecocks stay afloat.

South Carolina has a plethora of players who are very capable of scoring, boasting more than 5 players who have scored twice or more. This will certainly be a challenge for West Virginia to try to mitigate the potential of the Gamecocks.

U92 will be providing live coverage for this ranked matchup. Conor Bratchford will be the color analyst for this game along with play-by-play commentator Quinn Robie.

The pre-, half-, and post-game show will be hosted by Blake Fuchs. Blake will be accompanied by Anthony Ritchie and Ryan Boynes to provide an in-depth analysis of the matchup.

Kickoff for the game is set for 7:00 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Stadium. Fans can listen in on WWVU 91.7FM or online at u92themoose.com.
