Fazerdaze on Growth, Both In Sound and Mind with “Soft Power”

There’s an old Appalachian folktale that cardinals carry an immense spirituality when they cross your path. If one appears in your window, it’s said to be a loved one signaling you from the afterlife. It’s a symbol of peace, hope, and prosperity to you in a time of need.

When one appeared in the top floor window of the building across the street from Mr. Small’s Theater on Sunday afternoon, it was the first time that Amelia Murray, lead behind the musical project Fazerdaze, or Dave Rowlands, a longtime friend of Murray and touring Fazerdaze guitarist, had heard of this legend. Yet, it felt perfectly on theme with the release of her sophomore album, “Soft Power,” that was released last Friday via section1.

Opinion-Based Review: Kelsea Ballerini’s Patterns By Emma Domingo

Kelsea Ballerini has always had a way of capturing raw emotion in her music, but with her latest album Patterns, she takes that honesty to a new level. Known for hits like “Peter Pan” and “Miss Me More,” Kelsea's ability to mix personal storytelling with catchy lyrics has earned her a dedicated fanbase. After the release of Rolling Up the Welcome Mat in 2023, which recounted her difficult divorce from Morgan Evans, Patterns feels like a fresh start—a journey of self-reflection, growth, and empowerment.

If you’re unfamiliar, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat was Kelsea’s deeply personal response to her divorce, where she opened up about the emotional toll of a broken relationship. The stripped-back nature of the EP gave fans a glimpse into her heartache and the process of moving forward. While Rolling Up the Welcome Mat was raw and vulnerable, Patterns highlights a sense of resilience as Kelsea looks at the lessons learned from her past and begins her next chapter.

Glimmer of God by Jean Dawson, Review by D.J. Connor Roberts

Jean Dawson, an artist who grew up between San Diego and Tijuana brought together multiple different genres on his latest album Glimmer of God. The album brings in vibes from West Coast Hip Hop, Punk, British New Wave, and even some 80’s esc synthwave. If you are a fan of The Weeknd, The 1975, or even Tory Lanez in his Alone at Prom era, this album is the perfect pick for you.

The opening track Darlin’ starts off with these psychedelic rock esc guitar riffs before quickly transitioning into an R&B style beat before with another switch about halfway through the song into a beat strung along by a heavy hitting baseline similar to those you’d hear in a Thundercat song. This first track sets up the versatility and diversity this album brings.

Tyler the Creator, More Than Music: Opinion-based blog by Chloe Kuntz

On October 28, 2024 Tyler the Creator dropped his eighth studio album called “CHROMAKOPIA” featuring fourteen songs with a multitude of guest artists. These songs, as with all of his music, offer a unique unapologetic tone. In my opinion, listening to Tyler the Creators new music solidified the idea for me that his music and his persona has redefined hiphop.

Tyler the Creator first started out with a group called Odd Future back in 2009 then went into making his own music with his first studio album “Goblin”. In an interview conducted by the podcast Rap Radar in 2023, Tyler the Creator looks back on his debut album stating that although it was not his best work, it was more about the energy being different than what others were doing at the time.
